Climate change represents arguably the biggest threat to humanity in our history. For the sake of current and future generations we must reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
There is no technological or economic reason why we can’t do this and, as we’ve just seen, we can do it while enhancing our wellbeing. We just need to get into action, and being part of a group can help us do this.
In Australia and across the globe, communities and governments, businesses and institutions, non-profits and individuals are doing things in new ways to reduce carbon emissions and work towards a zero carbon world. But much more is needed, and Livewell is one response to this imperative.
Livewell Groups provide a structure within which you can reduce your carbon and help others to do the same, providing you with the information and social support you need.
Livewell Groups provide an opportunity for us – as individuals, households, groups and communities – to create our own solutions to this critical challenge, in the Australian self-help tradition, and we’re likely to find the experience an enriching one.
As well as reducing carbon as individuals and households, we can cooperate with our neighbours as part of what’s known as the sharing economy. And we can also help to shape the actions of governments and businesses, through policy advocacy and through the way we invest our money.
So there are many ways to be part of building a zero carbon world.
